Sustainability and Ethical Production at Lucy & Yak

Lucy & Yak is a certified Eco-Stylist brand that makes sustainable clothing and accessories. They are UK based, ship internationally and are best known for their dungarees and unique patterned clothing.

Their garments are sustainably made and are rated as excellent on our website. Nearly all the materials used are either deadstock, recycled or organic.

Lucy & Yak has a programme in place where they reclaim and recycle used clothing that’s too damaged to be returned. This is Re:Yak (UK exclusive) a program where you can send your old clothing from Lucy & Yak back to them and they will give you a £20 store voucher. These clothes are then recycled or given a new home, this is one of the most important sustainable practices they have.

Not only does this brand use sustainable materials but they continuously assess their supplier factories, and it is verified that artisans are paid a living wage. Their transparency could be improved by disclosing more information about their supply chain traceability, more information can be found on our brand rating of Lucy & Yak.

Lucy & Yak is a sustainable and ethical brand so please consider visiting their website or UK based stores for your next shopping trip.

Inclusivity and Community Support

One of Lucy & Yaks greatest strengths is their support and inclusivity of all people no matter their body size or identity.

They state that their goal is for their clothing to be able to be worn by as many people as possible, hence why they have expanded their sizing range.

They feature models with a diverse range of bodies, which is important as plus size and disabled people are severely underrepresented in the modelling industry.

They have a wide size range that goes from 4 to a 32, they also have petite and tall sizes.

They are proud supporters of the LGBTQIA+ community and state that this community has always been at the heart of Lucy & Yak.

In support of this community they created The Bonds Between Us collection to celebrate the connections, the people and communities that uplift, sustain and champion Lucy & Yak.

It was designed by Amanda Lobos whose captivating style was a reflection of her experiences as a young black bisexual artist.

Lucy & Yak donated 100% of the profits to 3 brilliant LGBTQIA+ charities; Nutshell, Nai Bhor Sanstha and ParaPride

They collaborated with queer models, performers and activists who modelled this collection and were part of an interview discussion celebrating pride in 2025.

Yasmin Benoit, who was part of this campaign is a model and activist for the asexual and aromantic community. She has been part of many transformative movements and co-founded International Asexuality Day (April 6).

For me, as someone part of the aromantic and asexual community, seeing Lucy & Yak platform individuals like Yasmin means a lot.

It is a step towards increasing queer representation in media and creating fair opportunities for all.

My Personal Experience with Lucy & Yak Clothing

As someone who has researched and worn many sustainable clothing brands, Lucy & Yak is one of my favourites.

Not only do I love their sustainability accomplishments and their inclusivity, I am obsessed with their unique designs and comfortable styles.

I currently own two Lucy & Yak items and next month I am going to visit their store in Cambridge!

These two items are the:

1. Stevie – Polar Fleece in Delano Check

Ethical patchwork fleece jacket by Lucy & Yak.
Me wearing the Stevie – Polar Fleece in Delano Check

It is so soft and keeps me really warm in the miserable British weather! I chose the XS size which fits me well but allows me the bagginess I wanted.

I like to wear it loose and baggy with wide leg jeans and love to dress it up by doing matching colourful makeup or a fun hairstyle.

2. Ragan – Cotton Jumpsuit in Black

Sustainable stylish petite dungarees by Lucy & Yak.

I chose this in UK 6 petite and this jumpsuit actually fits me which I usually find hard as I am on the shorter side! (For reference I am 5ft 3inch).

It is so comfortable and feels very robust, I like to pair this with platform DocMarten boots, a turtle neck or a stripy top underneath.

These items have become wardrobe staples and I find myself reaching for them often, I also get endless compliments!
