Transparency

Two Leaves Earned
Rated: Good

  • Sutsu publicly shared information about where each of their pieces are made.
  • Under each product, there is a detailed, mapped journey about how that specific piece was created.
  • Also, Sutsu provides photos of the suppliers at each stage of production under every product. They take these photos during their yearly audits in their factories.

  • Some things that Sutsu could improve on are providing a publicly available factory list with specific names and locations of factories and assessing and addressing issues related to subcontracting within their supply chain.

Fair Labor

One Leaf Earned
Rated: Fair

  • Sutsu is certified by the Living Wage Foundation, confirming that all of the workers within their supply chain are paid fair, living wages.
  • In addition, Sutsu is GOTS certified meaning that they have to promote a certain level of human rights throughout all of their facilities.

  • One thing that Sutsu could improve on is providing a publicly available code of conduct that outlines rules and regulations that suppliers have to follow and provides details regarding the consequences if suppliers do not adhere to the rules.
  • Also, Sutsu could provide well-being programs for garment workers. These programs could include healthcare, childcare, or education initiatives, for example.

Sustainably Made

Three Leaves Earned
Rated: Excellent

  • Sutsu has done a great job at analyzing their current industry and looking at what they can do to make the entire industry more sustainable.
  • They do this by addressing what they need to do better and creating goals to further make progress.
  • In addition, Sutsu has taken accountability by measuring and disclosing their carbon emissions each year. Also, they have begun to form initiatives with the goal of lowering carbon emissions in the future such as setting targets for themselves and holding themselves accountable.
  • Sutsu is making an effort to reduce the amount of waste they produce as an entire company and supply chain. They do this through conscious design, with all of their products being made to order they limit overproduction and a large amount of deadstock piling up.
  • Also, in terms of packaging, 95% of it is recyclable and/or biodegradable which limits the amount of trash produced when they ship products.
